I just wanted to promote another nifty little utility for Windows. It is called LockHunter. Have you ever had Windows Explorer tell you it can’t delete a file because it is open somewhere else but you know it isn’t? This usually means that Explorer.exe itself is blocking your actions. There are several utilities that help you solve the problem but I’ve found this one is the best.
It gives you a right click menu item and when you click it a window opens and shows you all the processes that supposedly have your file open. If there are legitimate programs with your file open then by all means close them by hand. If it is only explorer.exe blocking your way then you can force it to close its handle to your file.
